RIP Thatcher, without whom we would be stuck in a recurring 1970s world, God help us.
God didn't help us from Thatcher though did he or she?? Nor did he help the innocents whom the IRA blew up.
I say if you really believe that Thatcher saved the country, it's you who's got a sick mind.

Some pretty tasteless one's on this thread though
I suppose she was like Marmite, you either love it or hate it.
What I found tasteless was the site of a WW11 RAF aircrewman (shot down twice) dying in appalling conditions, leaking roof, windows that blew a draft all day, heating on the blink and not enough staff to change his bed sheets, leaving his family to do it (if sheets were available). This was not however in a third world country, nor a German POW camp, but an NHS hospital in Hull, 8 years after she took power.
The war hero in question was my grandad, so forgive me if I have nothing but hatred for the cow.
I also had a job with a local authority when Labour took power and one of the first things we had to do was carry out condition surveys on schools to see the extent of the work needed after 18 years of neglect, some of the primary schools were in such poor condition it was hard not to weep when you saw the little kids in coats learning maths and the like. When we finished we had to put a report in the central government as to the costs of bringing them up to a minimal standard for human occupation, some it was easier to knock down and build new (which was what Labour began doing).
Don't forget, these two scenarios where when the country was claimed to be 'booming' and back as one of the richest in the world. Where the hell was the investment she said was to be made to make the country fair for everyone, one which we are now hearing from the Thatcher sycophant Cameron.

Out of all the crass comments on this thread, yours takes the biscuit. Totally uncalled for samwire, you've no idea (and neither do any of us) the circumstances of Rover49's grandad.

Unfortunately, neither my mam or myself had the facilities for carrying out major surgery, no the money to fix the boiler, windows or roof sarcy b@stard.
