Finished Bioshock Infinite tonight. It's a fantastic game, brilliantly put together in a well crafted and original setting, with great characters and an even greater story.
Unfortunately, as with most of these story-driven fps games, the last couple of hours are dogged down by endless battles against masses of enemies. I don't know where all of these game developers got the idea from that us gamers like/need these huge endurance battles as we get towards the end of a game - they do my nut in. They add absolutely nothing to the story, fail to build any tension whatsoever and in most cases can even detract from the game's atmosphere altogether.
Still, I stuck with it and finally made it through to the end. Some great plot twists, and without doubt the most complex storyline I think I've ever seen in a video game - it's certainly a head scratcher that I had to read about on forums afterwards just to make sure I understood it all correctly.
But all in all it's certainly a game I would recommend to anyone. It definitely left an impression on me and is full of talking points, just like any great game should be.

What do you mean? Not played any of the Bioshock games, but Infamous and Deus Ex seem pretty different from each other from what I've played of Infamous.

I can't explain them, it's just the atmosphere of the games; the ideas behind them. I'm not saying they're similar or even the same, just the style and themes behind them are what I consider the epitomes of modern games. Can't say any of them have entertained me at all.
If I'm being honest, I'm a little lost when it comes to gaming, I just can't do it any more. I played Darksiders 2 at Christmas but lost interest after a few days, I bought FIFA 13 and don't think I've played mine since October. I've played it at friends but I don't bother at home. I got an Xbox just before Christmas that hasn't been switched on since January, this is despite owning Halo 4, Darksiders 2, Forza Horizon and GoW Judgment, as well as 6300 points to spend on arcade games. I got Ni no Kuni on the PS3, enjoyed that for weeks but haven't been on that since the first week I got it. What am I doing wrong? Do other people struggle to motivate themselves to play a game? The last game I made a proper effort to play was FF7 about two/three years ago. Since then I've had FIFA, NBA 2K, Football Managers and plenty of other games but I can't enjoy any of them like I used to. Maybe I'm just yearning for the glory days of Pokemon, Vice City and Twisted Metal Black. I'm considering the new Tiger Woods 14 game, but the last demo I played (I think of 13) was poor.
I have to be in the mood, otherwise i'll get bored within an hour or less. Though if i DO find a really good game, i still have the ability to waste a good 8/9 hours a day on it if i'm not working. I'm 27 though, i'm pretty sure i should be doing less gaming these days, but oh well,
Anybody played Defiance yet? I'd never heard of it until this morning but it looks pretty good, an open-world MMO on a console too, i wonder how well it works, it looks pretty decent.

I'm still not entirely sure what you mean, the style and theme of Deus Ex seems vastly different to Infamous to me.
I think it just comes down to what 100% Wire says, it depends on your mood. I tend to go through spells of playing fairly intensely, then switching off for a couple of weeks or so. I think a lot of modern games have much more in the way of the worlds/setting, so often it can just depend upon how much you like being 'in' those surroundings. If you don't take to the world you just don't get hooked.

It will also tie in with the television series starring Jamie Murray (ex Hustle & Dexter)

I am finally hanging up the PS2 and actually going to get a more modern console. Any recommendations? Xbox or PS3. I was edging towards The PS3 as online gaming is free, what is the best console to get?
