***Please can we avoid the usual mud-slinging?***

As John Piper rightly argues, the kangaroo court and subsequent murder of Jesus was the greatest act of evil to ever occur on this planet. What the BBC and their pink partners fail to grasp is that, to Christians, it is sheer blasphemy to compare this heinous crime to anything, not least the way gay people are treated in a liberal democracy.

I know most of you will not agree with me, but after Leveson, Saville and now this, is it finally time to bin the BBC? If not, can it be morally justified for Christian license-payers to refuse to pay up?

Thanks for starting with the mud slinging.

It illustrates – once more – how fundamentalists like you want to have their cake and eat it. You, Sir, are a hypocrite.

But let's make a couple of points, though.

1) If there hadn't been a "kangaroo court and subsequent murder of Jesus", then you wouldn't have met Jesus and he wouldn't have saved you. I know that it's trying that we have to put up with your idiocy and bigotry on a regular basis, but suggesting that that's a direct result of "the greatest act of evil to ever occur on this planet" is a tad harsh on yourself.

And since God created everything in the full and certain knowledge of what would happen, then he also created that "kangaroo court and subsequent murder of Jesus". Indeed, if Pilate had freed Jesus, it would have been against God's plan.

2) "to Christians, it is sheer blasphemy to compare this heinous crime to anything, not least the way gay people are treated in a liberal democracy."

This is both yet another illustration of your bigotry – not least because Christians per se would say no such thing.

And if you don't want to pay the licence fee – bin your television. It would allow you more time for prayer and Bible reading.

You lot can start moaning when the BBC start broadcasting a homo lecture on the radio every morning or a bunch of poofs & lezzas singing in praise of same-sex shagging every Sunday evening

You are right, I don't agree with you ... not about the greatest act of evil anyway.
I'm thinking of the various acts by Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin etc etc .

Your use of the words "BBC and their pink partners" as a pejorative is noted.

But, finally, to the point ... what you fail to grasp is that your idea of blasphemy doesn't govern what others think.

I disagree, and let me tell you why. Whilst the atrocities committed by the above despots were no doubt evil, the victims of such crimes were not as perfect or as good as Jesus - the most perfect thing there is, was and ever will be. He joined us for a brief 33 years. He was hunted at birth and mocked in death. Why? Because the human race is a wicked, vengeful, self-righteous race of people.

It actually wasn’t meant as a pejorative. I was stressing the BBC’s love-in with gay rights campaigners.

I understand that that is the reality, but why should Christian license-fee payers pay for mockery of the most evil act ever committed?

The same reason non Christians pay the license fee even though Songs of Praise is on every Sunday evening, the difference being, we live and let live and don't complain, we use the "off" button instead.

Even within the 'logic' of your own belief system, these things happened because God ordained them. If the "human race is a wicked, vengeful, self-righteous", that's because God created it that way.

Your self-hatred is showing. You may well be able to find help for that.

Ah right, I wasn't aware that the worth of the person murdered made the crime more heinous.
