Wheat is not very good for you, i would always advise people to cut it completely out of their diet, before it became a staple diet it's primary use was in house building.

It's been fun.

Even the most cursory of cursory google searches would show that position to be incorrect. Whole wheat is included in the category of whole grains and, as such, has numerous health benefits associated with it, as evidenced in several scientific studies. The only reason to cut it out is if you have a specific allergy/intolerance to it.

I hardly slept last night, so I might be being a bit thick, but you've completely lost me there.

Cut it out your diet for 3 months, tell me how you feel, then reintroduce in and also tell me how you feel, then tell me it's a beneficial food.

My wife went a year or more without touching the stuff and didn't notice any difference. Even if she had have noticed a difference, anecdotal evidence does not trump peer-reviewed scientific studies. Just about every study conducted on the matter says it is beneficial. That'll do for me.

I've been reducing intake of starchy carbs for around four months now particularly bread. The biggest thing I've noticed is that I don't feel bloated as before. I didn't realise it was bloatedness, until I wasn't experiencing it. Large amounts of milk produce a similar feeling, so I've also cut out my two lunchtime milky coffees (my only such drinks in a day).

I don't have any starchy carbs for breakfast or lunch.

I've never been a snacker anyway, but I haven't suddenly developed craving in mid-morning or mid-afternoon.

If that's all it does, then it's an improvement.

Rock God – my point was that wholegrains are still a complex carb.

They might well be, but to lump all carbs together as being inherently bad is just plain wrong.

I'm the first person to advise people to stay away from refined carbs, but whole grains have been shown in study after study after study to have significant health benefits, including reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease. That's not opinion, it's fact. Or FACT, if you prefer!

When i lost my job in dec of 2011 i wanted to do something so i did the fitfans with Hull fc...i just cut all the crap out and had a breakfast (cereal)...fruit in midmorning...then a sandwhich on brown bread..then a fibre bar or fruit in afternoon then my tea...we then did circuits rd the stadium and i could feel the difference. You also got told what is good for you and what isnt and it helped a lot....i got 7 weeks into a 13 week course and had lost a bit of weight but then got a new job and couldnt keep it up but stuck to the priciples of it.

I have suffered PCOS for years and starchy carbs are a nightmare for causing bloating & making me feel lethargic.
