An enjoyable game last night, but way too slack defending and considering the side we put out they struggled far more than they should have.
Glad Sturridge scored, when he stood on the ball I thought he was going to blow his chance of impressing in the absence of Torres. Personally I think he's shown that he will work with our other forwards infinitely better than Torres does. Yes, he wastes some chances, but it's a lot better to have someone who continually strives to score even after he's missed than someone who seems to hide from goalscoring chances.
And the scousers and Spurs going out made the night even better.
Strange outburst by Rodgers against Joe Cole. He's had 2 games in 2 years for Liverpool and apparently isn't giving them value for the 'astronomical' sums he's paid.
Just bizarre, further signs of them cracking up under the pressure there. Instead of admitting they were smashed by a team that is better than them, he blames Joe Cole. Cole proved last season at Lille that he's a cracking player when used properly.
I can't see Rodgers lasting, he doesn't seem to be able to cope with the pressure of the job.
The Chelsea fan should get off on the grounds of dimished responsibility. He's in the front row with numerous cameras pointing at him. Can only be suffering from sort of learning difficulty.

When used properly? The lad is dogshit and isn't capable of playing to any of the standards required. He's slow, unfit, lethargic and his touch is poor. His passing is average and his movement is embarrassing. He's a shadow of the player he once was, he used to be pretty quick, he was capable of magic and his movement always lead to goals or good chances.
He played under Hodgson and was poor, he played under Dalglish and was poor, he's played under Rodgers and was poor throughout pre-season. He's allegedly earning £90k+, we are getting robbed blindly by a player who doesn't want to play, who doesn't want to be here and isn't capable of playing to a decent level anymore. Regardless of what he achieved at Lille (can't have been much, they could have had him for nothing), he's been shocking for Liverpool and hasn't shown any signs of improving.
There was a Chelsea fan on here who was praying that Joe Cole would go to Liverpool, because he hated Liverpool and felt that them signing him would be a poor signing - even on a free.
Can't think who it was though.
But blaming Joe Cole because you get turned over at home by Swansea City??? For me it's another barrel scraper from a manager who is being found out because he's taken on too big a job, too soon. Sure, Joe Cole is an easy target. He's ex-CFC, he's on a huge salary and offered practically nothing in return for it. You're not losing much if you hang him out to dry because he's got practically nothing to give anyway. But to me I think the rest of the LFC squad will see that he's simply pushing a player forward to take the hits that could be coming for him otherwise.

Just seen him in "action" on SSN
He doesn't look the brightest, does he?
Firework thrown on the pitch, too.
Are we returning to the dark days of 30odd years ago?
If you listen to Clarke Carlisle, Jason Roberts, that English ex-NBA player who is coming back to England and needs to forge a new career, yes.
But to anyone with a brain and isn't setting themselves up in the new UK civil rights movement, the situation now is a billion times better than it was. Back then a stand full of supporters would be making monkey noises at black players. Goals scored by a black player wouldn't even be cheered by the most extreme idiots. And the stand full of supporters abusing a black player wouldn't even be thinking they were doing very much wrong.
Right now there's a few isolated incidents that have been jumped upon, partly because the alleged perps were hate figures anyway.
IMO the English football culture is a culture of abuse. Practically any and every facet of the opposition is fair game - except abuse towards black players. Supporters can question the sexual habits of wives, girlfriends and mothers. They can question the paedophile nature of a couple of managers. Pretty much any abuse is okay apart from racial abuse.
So questioning whether we're going back to the dark days of 30 years ago is just ridiculous. If that bloke is identified, he's getting banned for life and probably going to court to get done by a magistrate too. The papers will print his name, and be calling his employers to tell them what kind of a man he is. He'll then be getting fired.
