One of my parents favourites along with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Matt Monro.
RIP.
couldn't stand his voice personally - Matt Munro was smooth as silk and much respected by the likes of Sinatra etc - if I could pick a crooners voice to have I would take MM any day
condolencies anyway
(don't think I could drink enough to be like Dean Martin )

It's a strange fact that his most-remembered song, "Moon River" was never released a single, the person that had a UK No.1 was in fact his namesake Danny Williams

Danny Williams' version is the pinnacle.

As it happens they've been replaying a lot of his stuff on one of the satellite channels recently, and he really did have a unique voice, and his shows were pretty good entertainment too, especially his Christmas specials. He was Mr. middle-of-the-road, but nothing wrong with that if you can do it as well as he did, and by all accounts a diamond geezer too.
A couple of Williams tunes are still on my ipod and still love Moon River, Where Do I Begin isn't half bad either, but probably my favourite track of his is Can't Get Used To Losing You.

Best use of an Andy Williams song in a film - the scene in the bar playing pool after the Russian Orthodox wedding in The Deer Hunter and the song "Can't Take My Eyes Of You" is played on the juke box.
Can't remember now whether its the Frankie Valli version actually
