Hi,im a postie in Oz up near the border(NSW/QLD),was delivering today and an old fella got out of his camper van to take he mail of me,i noticed he was wearing a Whitehaven commemerative polo shirt.Being a Pom and mad London Broncos (Quins,Crusaders,Fulham) fan i got chatting. This old fella told me how he started playing for Haven, then went on to Sts,played for GB,won Lance Todd, played for St George and won a grand final!! I was gobsmacked asked him his name and he said Dick Huddart.Im not that old but recognised the name, what a true gent, told me a few tales,i could have stopped and chatted to him for hours but had to get on,pleasure to meet him !Just thought a few Sts and Haven fans would be pleased to know he is still going well.

All that rugby puts hairs on your chest,
what chance have you got against a tie and a crest?

I recently got a DVD of the 62 Tour and was looking forward to watching McTigue/Boston/Murphy/Bolton etc

After watching it only 1 name was on my Lips

Dick Huddart!

Unbelievable strength and pace from the clips I saw!

If you bump in to him again ask him has he got or would like a copy and I'll post him one!
I'm sure given your occupation we could sort something out!

Some Salford fan said to me and I quote "You are by far and away the most Handsome & Knowledgeable Rugby League Fan in England!"

I thanked him and went on my Merry way!

Outstanding player. Remember him clearly from the sixties. I've got the DVD as well (thanks to Rogue) and he really is scintillating. The hard grounds suited his running style.

Nice to hear that Tiger is still going strong at the age of 76.

Still has a lot of family up here in West Cumbria in his home village of Flimby.

He was an absolutely fantastic player in his prime, had the strength of a prop and the pace of a winger. Formed an awesome second row pairing for GB with his fellow Cumbrian Brian Edgar, the pair of them ripped the Aussies to shreds on the 1958 tour.

A testament to how good Tiger was is that when the great St George second row Norm Provan retired it was him they signed as Provan's replacement, and the Aussies didn't look overseas for players very often in those days. He was the first Englishman to win an ARL Grand Final and was revered over there.

Well Bill, you can tell him about another old sod who remembers and admired him. A model of what a second-rower should be.

Where did you get the DVD from?

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.
