No seriously we have, there is no other explanation - really, seriously.

We have a chest of drawers in the hallway, its a solid pine chest, the drawers are solid 10mm thick pine, they don't slide on runners, its a traditional, heavy chest of drawers and one of the bottom drawers is double width and full of the usual crap that gets shoved in drawers in hallways, its heavy is what I'm saying and when you pull it out it takes some effort and you have to pull both handles at once to withdraw it evenly otherwise it jams at an angle.

On several occasions we've heard a thump and found it completely out of the chest and on the floor.

We've no explanation, we've never seen it happen but we've heard the thump on the floor when it comes out.

The dog (German Shepherd) has his bed next to it but he can't pull it out, we've tried the theories, we've hooked his collar around one of the knobs and he's pulled to get free but it just shifts a couple of inches and then jams at an angle, you literally have to pull both knobs together with an even pressure, a dog can't do that.

Someone explain that before I call the lovely Yvette Fielding please.

I'd ring Yvette Fielding anyway. Just to get her in and look at her.

Thought I was quite clued up about the paranormal, but must admit, I'd never heard of the Pontefract Poltergeist. Read a fair bit on it last night, and my conclusion is, the story is proberley true, but it's been exagerrated in parts. A bowl of milk being carried over the room, stopping then pouring onto the mother's head. A half-eaten sandwich.. by a ghost? The Poltergeist appearing..that must be a 1st. An exorcism? would be very surprised if this took place, knowing the catholic church's reluctance to do such things. Biggest doubt is the lack of audio and photographic evidence.

Will definately look out for the film, but looking at the trailer, it would seem a bit of "artistic license" has been taken, most notably taken from other possession films, especially Poltergeist itself.

JerryChicken;

don't think you have a Poltergeist, more of a friendly if slightly mischievous spirit.The dog being very calm would indicate this. Be good to know if anything strange has happened. Lights being turned on, keys going missing etc.

To avoid all physical manifestations of all sundry ghosts and goblins, just set up some permanent recording equipment pointed at the area where you want to clear, and run it 24/7

From then on, nothing will ever be seen again.

So not a true story then. If it were true, that would render the second law of thermodynamics redundant.

For some reason if you put in unnecessary night vision video equipment and then turn the lights off, you'll see plenty of orbs. No, not dust, orbs.
