Anyway to talk about cycling cheats. Alberto is starting to look good again. Froomdogs lack of tactical nouce has shown his limitations. Yeah he can have these explosive out of the saddle sprints, however I'm more sure than ever now that Wiggo and his superb VAM stats would've brought him back.

The last mountain stage at the TDF was due to Wiggo getting over excited and wanting to go with a bang instead of playing to his strengths. I'm even. more certain of this now.

the other major maker of tourers is ridgeback

I've got a Ridgeback Bullit which I use for commuting in winter & for shopping at weekends loaded with panniers & a rack. I've never really liked it. My next multi-purpose bike will be a Specialized Tricross. At the moment Edinburgh Bicycle have them down from £799 to £599 for a basic. They have drops rather than the flat bar of my Ridgeback.

I was looking at edingburgh cycles the other day. Their own brand audax and cyclocross bikes look rather good. The spesh tricross is a bit heavy and cumbersome from what I've heard about it.

The tricross is far lighter than a Dawes Galaxy or Ridgeback tourer, with the added benefit of off-road trail use.
I've not owned an Edinburgh bike but have bought loads off other stuff from them & they are excellent value & service.

Of course it is lighter. The dawes and ridgebck are tourers the tri is a cyclocross bike. I meant that there are lighter options.

Agree about edingburgh stuff . all the stuff I've bought has been too quality.

Do you mean can they carry weight as in panniers etc..? Yeah they are well known for being good for carrying all you need for week long touring.

I think Froome is done as far as this Vuelta goes. Workload finally catching up with him? Still the Worlds to come as well...
