I'm sure I remember reading an article where it says she had a 22/23 inch waist. She obviously had curves, but I think the whole size 16 thing is something of a myth. That said, she was a stunner, no matter what her measurements were, people (of both genders) get too caught up with size these days.

I think that's largely because there seem to be more emphasis (in the media, certainly) on a certain 'celebrity' body type, that is both very thin and, therefore, with augmented boobs, complimented by a particularly artificial sort of make up.

It's that whole 'reality TV' thing too – Geordie Shore, The Only Way is Essex: the whole artificial looks and no talent makes you a celebrity.

Monroe had talent – she was a very gifted comic actor, even given her notorious problems.

For my money, Some Like It Hot remains an absolute gem. Although The Misfits gave her the chance to show more dramatic depth.

Before the machine chewed her up and spat her out.

Mintball, with respect, please don't try and tell us what 'men' like. The media especially are murder for it. I remember getting quite sick of being told how beautiful Jennifer Lopez was (for instance), when I really didn't think she was "owt special".

We're all different.

Personally, I'm not overly fussed on what Marilyn Monroe looked like either, but that's got nothing to do with what shape she is, or whether she's blonde or whatever.

Living in a house with three females I tend to find that those female images so promoted in the media are actually targetted at other females and not at males at all - female music performers dress and "dance" in the way that they do because their target audience is mainly young, often pre-pubescent females, they being the ones who download their music and dash to Primark to buy the copy clothing.

Pretty face excuses everything for me, fat or thin not fussed.
