whilst the result was underwhelming (where where the germans?) the atmosphere on the streets was fantastic - the olympics seems to have brought the best out of folk (even london car drivers were pretty good). took the bike in the car, parked over near uxbridge and rode over to bushy and richmond parks. once the ride had gone through you could ride the course for a few hours - went to hampton court and kingston then back to richmond park - was stood near to the corner where cancellara crashed. looking forward to going back down for the tts on wednesday

I've still not seen the race but I'm mightily peeved that someone like Vino won. He is a constant reminder of the dirtier past of cycling. I really hope this does not mean he will delay his retirement again.

As for Cav I'm gutted he didn't win but it would appear the rest of the field trumped our one and only tactic for the day. I would have expected Germany to start working earlier though.

So what team jersey do we think Cav will be wearing next year?

Completely my take on it,what's the point of having Greipel on your squad if you're not going to deliver him? I was screaming at the telly, shouldn't have let more people bridge but they'd done an awful lot of chasing by then.

Do we know what happened with Cancellara? Did he puncture? For such a good technical bike rider he just seemed to sort fall over.

Uran Uran was awful at the finish riding in the middle of the road looking over his left shoulder and then not over his right, surprised Vino didn't fall off laughing.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Certainly had me laughing  . Ridden like a real amateur. In fairness though, he probably wouldn't have won a sprint anyway.

No, he wouldn't but it's the worst display I can ever remember, he actually looked genuinely shocked and surprised when Vino flew off down the road as if he didn't even know he'd ever been there!

Could be an interesting TT. Wiggins must be tired but he will be nailed on for SPOTY if he leaves the Olympics with a Gold medal too.

I have a bet on Tony Martin to win as at 5/1 he is too good not to bet on. Had a lot of bad luck in the Tour and surely his luck must change.

As for the womens TT I think Pooley will podium.

It'll be interesting to see what Wiggo's got left in his legs, but he was so far clear of anyone else on the Tour with the pointy hats on that you've still got to make him favourite. Martin looks a fair price at 5/1. I mean, he's obviously better than he showed in the Tour, but Wiggo was beating him on the TT bikes throughout the season before they got Liege a month ago. You'd fancy a fit Martin to be up there and it looks like Spartacus didn't break anything in that crash on Saturday and will race. Should be good.

I remembered last night I put a quid ew on uran for the road race at 400/1 woo hoo! Shame the odds for the Ty are so crappy. Though rogers is on 200/1 and could be a good outside bet. Mmmmmmnmn!

Women's TT like a throwback to the late '90s/early 2000s. An American called Armstrong is killing it.
