Amazing what a bit of organisation and publicity can do.
They wasted their time. One of the conditions of being a host country is that official sponsors don't pay tax on any profits directly derived from the Games. So none of it would have been offshored to avoid tax, as none would have been due.
What has happened here is two multinationals agreeing to pay more tax than they have to, in order to get some positive publicity.

No, what has happened is two multi-nationals have been co-erced into paying tax on UK earnings in a bid to avoid negative publicity.
There's a very real and tangible difference.

Not sure who the official bog-roll sponsor for the Olympics is, but given that someone had been given the job of covering the Kimberly Clark logos on the loo-roll holders in every cubicle at Hampden with white sticky labels, as well as every soap dispenser and hand dryer it's clearly not them!
Daft thing is the white labels were the thing drawing people's attention to the logos they were trying to cover!

It's utterly bonkers. The Ricoh Stadium in Coventry has had to have the name removed – and any street signs with directions to the stadium have had to be changed too.

I think more people would be shocked if there wasn't a major terror alert over the next few weeks

The old Wembley stadium was probably the easiest place to blag your way into the lounges of any sporting venues, certainly easier than Headingley.
All you had to do was wait until the end of the game, climb the stairs at the back of the Royal Box and you'd come to an exit door from the press bar. Knock on the door and you could guaranteee that some boozed-up hack would open it and let you in. Once in there, you had "access all areas" freedom to roam wherever you wanted.
