I don't remember anyone calling for a young british coach. In fact I remember plenty of uproar when we appointed an untried coach after 2 failures. Plenty of people calling for an experienced aussie coach though

There were plenty. A few went as far as to claim that Sharp couldn't get the players motivated for a derby because an Australian could never understand the passion involved - neatly ignoring the nationality of Morgan.

I had no problem with getting rid of Sharp, and I still don't. Just because we appointed the wrong replacement and stuck with them for too long doesn't mean sacking him wasn't the right decision. People have been moaning about the way our recruitment is looking now, but it looks positively inspiring next to Sharp's choices, he brought in some stinkers.

And to pre-empt the 'but Kath did the recruiting, it wasn't his fault', I sincerely doubt she would have had any idea about the likes of Cusack, Maiava and Byrne off her own back, and we brought in a damn sight better calibre of player after he went and she was still here. Berrigan apart, all of our NRL imports under him were either ordinary, past their best, or just plain poor.

I miss Carvell, he was great for us.
