Didn't McGoldrick have to sort the same issue down in London before the Leeds game ? Took a couple of days didn't it ?

ahh right, still seems a bit odd to me. I thought you had to be a british citizen to hold a uk passport and as such giving you the right to live and work in the UK and also be eligible to represent the country. obviously not the case.

I thought the hold up was due to planning permission for his shed?

My guess is that it wouldn't be expected to be any sort of an issue, other than with the transfer deadline being friday. No idea how long it'd take or how advanced the process already is, but from the PR it looks like they expect to make it; but they have to cover their behinds in case of a bureaucratic hold-up.

Is the correct answer (especially the first sentence  ).

If he's signed, or about to, it's a fairly straightforward transfer process. He just needs the visa changed to a new one (the current one will only allow him to work for Cas) linked to FC. The club are pushing it to get it done though - postal applications are taking 6-8 weeks. If only someone could try to fit him in at the UKBA in Sheffield this week....

If that's true, then he shouldn't need a work permit and there's no need for a new visa to play for us (if he's got his current visa because of his marriage).

I'm sure this has been done before somewhere?

Quota isn't a problem we had one space available at the start of the year and Mckinnon has also gone.

Have slight reservations in signing Chase, not for his on-field ability but his off-field antics but i am still excited by the prospect of him playing for us. On his day Chase is one of the best halfbacks around (aside from the NRL ones) who is available. We have cried out for a top halfback since Jason Smith played for us and now AP is prepared to fork out the money to get what we need. As some have said maybe it might all go wrong 12, 24 months down the line but lets at least give him that chance (if he signs) to prove himself as a change of environment might be just what is needed. Still think we need someone who can organise the team because we have only seen glimpses of that in Seymour and for me that is just as important.

Pretty much how I see it. If the fee is lower than might have been thought it certainly reduces a bit of risk. We've been crying out for a bit of X factor and unpredictability let's hope Rangi can rise to that challenge and deliver these traits - but only on the field please.
