Last I spoke to you, you weren't a professional sportsman though. Neither had you broken a specific work rule to go out an enjoy a pint or two. On more than one occasion. Or failed to turn up to work at all after a night out.

There's little doubt that Chase is a bit of an idiot and not much on responsibility or professionalism. The question is whether Gentle could work with that. Obviously he thinks he can. Not without risks though.

He's the type of "player" we desperately need imo .We're a poor team creatively , Lack any ideas on how to break teams down , He'd be an answer to a lot of our problems. Hope we can get him.

I'm 50/50 as to wether we will sign Chase in all honesty. I just don't think Cas will be willing to drop the price enough to something we'd be willing to pay. Will Sharp could of been a possibility as player plus cash deal, but with him been ooc it won't be him, or Ogre too. I just see anyone in our squad who they'd be willing to take as part of the deal.
Would we be willing to pay £250,000 if they would knock £100,000 off the asking price? It's still a huge amount of money, but if that's what it takes would we accept it?

As for Tickle I have a feeling that he will still be with us next season.

You're right I was just pointing out I liked a pint. Real ale's the way forward join CAMRA for £20 a year and they send you £20 worth of Spoons vouchers back by return post - bargain

Seriously - of course it would be a risk. So were Westerman and Watts I suppose, and Seymour too although not as high a risk in monetary terms. Berrigan enjoyed a beer by all accounts. I would much prefer Chase to be a Swain type character should we sign him but obviously he isn't. There is of course a parallel risk in not signing a top quality half which we desperately need. Failure to finally solve the Hull FC half back conundrum would almost certainly mean continued mid table obscurity. Whether Chase would be the right man who knows ? - there clearly isn't a plethora of options available (Chase might not be available either) but we need to sort this and it must be as clear to AP as the rest of us. Not sure Chase would have been my number one choice but I will say this - the way he plays would certainly keep the fans interested at a time when perhaps some are becoming disillusioned at the "same old same old" happenings for about the last 4 or 5 seasons. So there's pros and cons. We have to change the way we play - I'm sure PG wants to but needs the armoury to achieve it. Will be interesting times however it pans out.

Seriously? Think I'll be looking into that once I get back from holiday. :)

I agree with all that TBH. As long as we go into any deal with our eyes open - which I'm sure we will - then it's a risk that we pretty much have to take. I'm just not as willing as some on here (not you) to turn a blind eye to the downsides that Chase brings along with the undoubted benefits his skills would give us.

Do we take the risk of signing a player with a dubious disciplinary record (on and off the pitch) but one who is the reigning Man of Steel and a game breaker or pass it over and potentially stick with McGoldrick at full back and Horne and Seymour in the halfs?
