Why?
You are aware Cas are losing a ton of players on stupid wages and are replacing them with better players on less money?
McGoldrick, Hudson & Jackson are (or were in McGoldrick's case) apparently on really inflated contracts so the new players brought in for next year are probably taking up less cap space than those 3 players.
Chase & Clark will still be the key players at the club next season unless someone comes in with stupid money for Chase, because that's what it will take to get him.
Quote:My take on the Chase thing is that you will have enquired about his availability for 2012, especially when he was suspended and been quoted a silly price, or told no.
That's more likely - it's what you do with players you don't want to sell.

I heard Benji Marshall is signing, my mates uncle told me, so does that gives me license to post about 20 posts confirming this as FACT and not BS?
Anyway i need a poop and a beer I'm out of here
That's assuming he made it up, you have no proof of that. I suggest you don't use this thread if you are going to react like this to people.

Sorry, couldn't get back on yesterday.
My understanding is this.;
Cas were initially happy for us to talk to Rangi provided we could agree a fee. We haven't offered as much as he is being paid at Cas but he is more than willing to move to us. We have suggested a price of around £150k, so Cas have moved quickly to NOT discipline Rangi heavily for his night out and subsequent refusal to turn up for training but instead to give him a warning and a fine.
This sends out a more positive message that this isn't the 'kick him out of the country' problem that some suggested, in the hope that Wigan/Warrington come in with a larger offer. Cas know they won't get £350k for him but also the money they save from his wage would be immense (on top of the £70kp/a they've saved in the last week).
We are playing a little bit of 'chicken' with Cas and could still well sign him next week but not be held ransom.
We WILL sign Rangi Chase if all of this falls into place as it should. My estimate would be around £175k plus a preseason friendly or two in which Cas received the gate reciept profits.
For the record, I have not said to anyone that he's actually signed but i did suggest that there was a chance that he could play in the derby, this is still the case as we speak.
All this said, IF we do go into the rest of the season with our current squad and no additions then for me this season is written off and written off as failure. Clearly a building season to 'restart'.

Do the maths on this, If for a fee of 450k and on a maximum five year deal and with bonus' and wages too that would be tying up roughly about a million quid on just one player, Holdsworth won't be much cheaper either after the season hes having and his value would have shot up after the exiles games. To counter it though its a safe bet that 2000+ would be added on the gate and lots of extra merchandise sales so would probably cover it. imo its a win/win.
I would be happy for the club to bide its time on this one, I do a lot of work in the 5 towns area (which includes Cas). With the things being said in the area I would like the club not to rush into buying a player who may still have some outstanding issues to deal with. As for the extra 2000 on the gate after the failure to increase gates by moving to Sundays I'm not sure that sort of increase is viable, what will increase gates is a winning side

I didn't say that. I said maybe. I do know that Pearson doesn't have a bottomless pit of money. I do know know that he is a shrewd businessman and may well have told McRae/Gentle that if we are to pay a fee for Chase (or anyone else) we need to sell Tickle (or someone else).
First there was wisdom Then there was knowledge Now there is only information
Stupidly busy in business meetings all week, but thought I would squeeze this in during my dinner break.
I have NEVER claimed to be 'in the know' I just pass on information given to me by a very close friend, or as people on here like refer to all the time as a 'source',who I trust 100%.
I haven't spoke to my friend ('source') this week as people are aware we play catalan. The last he told me was h. believes the deal is done and rangi would be here this season. Something may have changed and that is now no longer a goer, but do I believe he will be wearing black and white next year? 100%
