A good move commercially. Money to pay the wages as no home game for ages and a fee we would never have had come September.

 I would if it wasn't raining outside. I'm going to stay in and cry instead, cutting Smith's face out of pictures in programmes and on posters etc.

I wonder who'll line up in the halves at the game on Sunday then? A loss will all but eliminate our already slim playoff hopes. Depending on how Sunday goes, we can bring in a few of the youngsters and try some different combinations.

Selling Matty smith says to me we are just in league to make up the numbers. What is the chances that will be waisted and don't spend it on replacements. No wonder we don't get big gates selling smith who is next. I won't be renewing my ticket next year. They come out every year we will do this and do that it's all tripe are club is . They have to have to give free tickets out every week to get people to turn up. No idea any more weather they give a dam about us supporters I will Finnish season ticket I have then not renewing it is just throwing money away

Get a grip, we're talking about Matty Smith. He's not the messiah, he's an average srum half! Who on earth will we find to kick the ball down the oppositions throat, continually miss tackles and run at the line rarely trying to break it.

There's no way he's even close to having Dunemann's, or even Robinson's, influence.

For me , its not a case of losing a great player , cos I dont think Smith was that great. I just feel angry that we cant seem to keep hold of players and the big teams just seem to take them at will !!. [perhaps sour grapes ]

How can Wigan afford to sign another player if already paying the full salary cap?

Unfortunately it's never going to change unless the club gets some new investment or our crowds increase by about 2,500 - 3000 a match. The easy thing is identifying the problems the extremely hard part will be finding realistic solutions. Could things be done better? I would imagine so but enough to stop us being a feeder club? I don't think so.

Good question. My guess is Salford will continue to pay him and Wigan will reimburse Salford.

First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.

Amos Roberts retired earlier in season, we sold Joel Tomkins and didn't bring in a like for like replacement so we had plenty of cap room left.

I reckon Long will dust his boots off for the remainder of the season starting with the Widnes games.

Quite comfortably as he doesn't have one, rubbish at best!

this will not be the end, or even the beginning of the end.
It is merely the end of the beginning
