I must be missing something. Smith's been a competent organiser but nothing more.
I'm positive we can cover the loss of his kicking game and perhaps add a little more attacking flair in midfield. By no means is this a disaster and bettering last year's points total is surely still feasible.

Still 6 points off, meaning we'll have to win 3 games without anyone above us in the 8 winning again all season. Not going to happen.
We've had our chance and blown it. Castlford x2, Wakefield, Hull Kr at Home, Bradford at home, Warrington away, St Helens at home. all should have been wins, but weren't.

Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try

Surely 4 points off, once Bradford receive a points deduction? No doubt we'll blow another chance to narrow the gap by losing to Hull KR this Sunday. A loss pretty much ends any remote chances we have of making the playoffs. We've still got some winnable games to come with Wakefield and Widnes at home and London away if we do pull off a win...

Good Luck to him, and for once I think we have made the right decision. In my opinion he wasn't as good as Myler or Robinson or Clinch etc. and we managed to move on from those.
As others have said, Smith's staying or going will not make any difference to our very slim chances of making the eight. So, it WILL give us an opportuninty to try out Sneyd or give us more time to plan for a replacement....Oh and a little bit more money to boot.
...............and good luck Wigan, I can't for the life of me see him as a replacement for Leuliai

I can not fault Matty for his effort in his time at Salford, but he hardly ever broke the line and his decision making at times was awful. He can thank Salford and in particular SL for this move. Ratchford was a bigger loss and we do have options. How about Moon at SH and we have Sneyd ready and willing. Good piece of business. Now sign up Broughton and DH with the money received.
How is are club moving forward no wonder are club will never challenge. For anything. You need ambition to get crowdss not smile when a big cheques as they come along. Selling Matty smith says to me we are just in league to make up the numbers. What is the chances that will be waisted and don't spend it on replacements. No wonder we don't get big gates selling smith who is next. I won't be renewing my ticket next year. They come out every year we will do this and do that it's all tripe are club is . They have to have to give free tickets out every week to get people to turn up. No idea any more weather they give a dam about us supporters I will Finnish season ticket I have then not renewing it is just throwing money away

Not as good as Myler? You must be talking about John or Tony, not 'one trick Rick': 79 minutes of anonymity and then pop up and score a try.
I think we'll miss him just like we missed the equally influential Andrew Dunemann. The question is how we replace him.

We didn't get big gates when he was here, so how will selling him cause a problem?
He was going at the end of the season anyway, because a club with more fans and more money could offer him a better contract and a better chance of winning a trophy. If Salford can make some money by releasing him early, then it sounds like sensible business to me.
