McKinnon fecked off a few weeks ago, and there have been rumours of Russell being recalled to Wigan, leaving us short of a fullback for the remainder of the season. Not many available mid season, I'd imagine.

I'm sceptical Mrs B. I find it hard to believe that a player would get himself out of a contract (apparently a good one) which was ending this season anyway just to sign for the same amount of time with another club (us) without the promise of something greater. I'll stand by what I put earlier, he'll be wearing our colours next season no matter what.

As I understand it Mcgoldrick is not one of the six.

Apparently the club are looking to find someone for this season due to the recent injuries to Tickle and Moa. They have expressed an interest in Mcgoldrick but only for the remainder of this season, and if he proves himself they may extend it to next season.

(AFAIK) Upto about 7 hours ago, no deal had yet been done.
I think the sticking point is the length of contract. It seems Mcgoldrick wants 18 months, but the club only want him for the rest of the season with an option of another year, if he proves himself worthy of an extension.

Desperate times, but how desperate?

Personally I would rather us be a man down for the rest of the season, then sign him for 18 months. He could be a bad influence on the youngsters. It also (imho) sends out a wrong message to them.

More importantly, it sends out the wrong message to other players, that we may be a soft touch

And I'm trying to provide some balance to the hysteria. We're short of a fullback. We may yet sign some very good players in addition to Gareth Ellis - I'd be surprised if we didn't. We have more depth in our young forwards than backs - Kent, Bowden, Green for example, so would make sense to me to bring a FB in to cover the rest of the season. Not McGoldrick, but seriously, parking his nigglyshitness for a moment, he's more robust than Lyne. I'm far from enamoured with this signing, believe me, but my ears are ringing from the indignant shrieking on here. This one signing, possibly just short term, in a squad of 30, is causing a disproportionate amount of suicidal tendencies about the club's strategy. Lunacy IMO, too much big girls blousiness amongst the population of this board.

Too much shrieking Mrs B. you're quite right. We're clearly up the proverbial and are desperate for players to cover some positions. We wouldn't be signing Goldie otherwise. It was never planned this way but needs must. FFS at least let him c0ck up in a Hull shirt first before nailing him to the cross.

Totally agree. Of course he's signed. There's no way he would walk away from Cas without a signed contract. The club are playing games with us here. They have seen the outcry from fans and are trying to figure out the best way to break it to us

And what of he is?!?! It's no big deal, he is one player out of a team / squad. I think some of us need to give Gentle some space and respect - what i mean by that is respect his judgement....i have more faith in his opinion of players than mine or anyone elses on this site.

You seriously think that Pearson, McRae and Gentle read RLFans and the Mail website and base their announcements on comments posted?
