I feel sorry for McGoldrick on his first game, he is one of them signings where one mistake will kill him. If he drops a bomb or misses a tackle, they will be world war 3. If he has a good game nothing will be said, that's Hull for ya though.
But the thing is, that's partly of his own making from being a nasty piece of work on a multitude of occasions. You don't garner the amount of negative feeling towards you that he has just by not being very good.
The thing is people do not have to get over it, fans have a choice whether to attend or not and as we know things have been difficult at our club for a few seasons so signing the likes of McGoldrick will hardly get people back through the door. Personally I can overcome most things and like you say once they wear our colours we support them, however there are 2 players I would choose not to pay to watch and McGoldrick is one of them. The club are telling fans they want players with the right attitude, young & British to build for the future etc...clearly the club are not being honest in the media and this is not good, our PR is pants.
We are signing young talent, it just means every signing is not going to be. So I don't see how you can say the club have lied. Pitts, Watts, Arundel and Crookes, all signed during this era. Extensions given out to Kent and Bowden and the likes of Ben Crookes finally breaking into the team. They are many rumors still in the pipeline about other youngsters we have signed, so to say the club are lieing about that is stupid.
The thing is with youngsters too, there going to have attitude and its Gentle's job to help mature them.

I'll say it again on the young British thing. Briscoe, Crookes, Crooks, Houghton, Westerman, Bateman/Whitehead, Bowden, Kent,Watts. FFS, Warrington are the comp's 2nd best team packed with over 30s and overseas players. OK, they're all better quality than our new guy, but seriously, we'd get better value from him than Solomona who plays 10 minutes a season. We can't have a 17 of young British players but I've just named 9 and they're complemented by Lynch, Heremaia, Tickle, probably Paea, plus a half back and maybe an NRL prop. No way I'd stop supporting my club in this broader context, particularly as it's fricking obviously a stopgap until the investment AP has made in youth facilities means we can bring our own through.

Even so people must still have brains to realize one mistake or game don't make a player. If he is wearing the black and white whether we like it or not, we should support him and hope he does well.
The sad thing is, if McGoldrick ends up being a pretty decent signing and also manages to somehow kick start his career again, how many on here will congratulate him or say they were wrong. Not many, because some people just love to be negative.
As I say he won't be first choice, so I don't know why people are overreacting like he is going to be playing every week.

I understand we will make some average signings and I agree youngsters will have attitudes and we hope Gentle can mature them, however the more mature players will also play a part in that and where McGoldrick fits into this god only knows, the guy is a thug with a bad attitude, I do not mind a player with a bit of mongrel in him but McGoldrick is just a dirty lover on the pitch and a piiss head off the pitch, really bad move imo and not the type of player you want around a young developing team.
