Leigh East 32-24 Bank Quay

Being from Leigh east was disappointed to read a comment on the trust in widnes forum questioning whether we had first teamers in, no other club in amateur rugby league could send a first team to siddal and win and send a second string out to beat Bank Quay.
Our second team deserve the credit for today's victory they were superb against arguably one of the strongest sides outside the ncl premier.
Credit to Bank Quay they a quality team coached by a quality coach in John Braddish who showed a professional attitude in congratulating us after the game. 9 times out of 10 we'd of lost easily but tday was our day :D

we knew that any chance we had was to hit hard early because we knew 1 or 2 would take us lightly being a 2nd team and we went 18 0 up,the 2nd half bank quay came at us with everything after they realised they was in a game and when they made it 24 24 we thought it was going to be game over but from somewhere the lads dug in and found something to sneak a try in last minutes and like chris said credit to john braddish who didnt look for excuesses and just looked at his own team and realised they didnt take us as a threat and thought they just had to turn up to take the spoils,it was a bit like fev v cas and it just shows sport is all about attitude because we lost to walney because of a p#ss poor attitude

It was me who posted that on the widnes forum and with hindsight it wasn't the cleverest thing to say
I play for Latchford and have had many a run in with bank quay, also played against you in the semi and I'll be honest I never thought you had a chance in the final(I bet most others didn't either)
I've been on the receiving ends of teams who play a few first teamers to win a game( its not wrong if the opportunity happens I can't blame a team for doing it)
But congratulations to all at the club that was two massive victories at the weekend
Hope I didn't offend too much that wasn't my intention

the thing is when we played u the 1st team had a few missing and took a few of our lads and thats the thing no one ever mentions when the 1st take players (but thats what a 2nd teams for ) and it weakens us its only crops up when we beat one of the big boys, because over a season its very rare 1st and 2nds dont have lads missing but luckly this weekend i think there was only about 3 lads between both teams missing so we could be more or less at full strength

Leigh East fully deserved their win and I wish them good luck in the main final, from a Bank Quay point of view I haven't heard any of our players, coaches or committee making excuses we only have ourselves to blame for our own performance but not to take away from the fantastic effort from the Leigh East guys

thats what we're saying at east, the bank quay lads and coaches never once looked for excuses and we know 9 times out of 10 they would probally beat us but thats what sports all about, the underdogs winning now and again, but we would'nt like to play in a game like that everyweek some of our lads can only just put on the're socks and shoes on the're that stiff ha ha
