I find the tribalism quite amusing. I live outside the goldfish bowl but doesnt make me any less of an ardent fan of Rovers but to suggest that rugby league would die a death because of a merger is laughable. I would go no questions asked.

If one of the 2 teams were at deaths door and looking like going under to be none existant then i could see sense- the fact is both teams are in the strongest position they have been in a very long time so its a none starter for me.

The fact that Allam as already said he hasnt bought rovers should put this to bed anyway. The only reason its come about is just like the Dobbo story- bad news from across the river (wade leaving etc) therefore some B&W as started a rumour about something else. Gets very tedious and boring.

mergers arent really mergers one team just absorbes the the other ie hull gateshead and who remembers that huddersfield and sheffield merged

Hull and Gateshead though weren`t local rivals. The fact the city of Hull can support two super league sides is testimony in itself. To me it would just not feel right only one club in the city. The banter is all part and parcel of following our teams.Anyhow, what would happen to the 10-5 bar?

Same here Blakey, but t.b.h. I couldn`t imagine not following the black and whites.Just stuck in old ways I suppose.

If the clubs ever merged I would go watch 'FC Hull' start from the very bottom in a park somewhere, ala AFC Wimbledon.

I also think the rivalry between the two clubs helps the level of RL support in this city. Hull's crowds increased from 2007 onwards, not just because of our CC win and Grand Final apppearance...but also because Rovers woke up and became a credible rival for the first time in 20 years.

What will a merger mean?

277 years of history down the toilet; 220ish derby games rendered meaningless.

You are aware that time doesn't work out like that?

If it did 1066 would've happened millions of years ago
