Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Oh god – you're not really going to start invoking "the real world" again, are you?

Which reminds me: a week or so ago you were crying about how your nasty boss didn't care about you, refusing you a pay rise after you'd asked (presumably with appropriate forelock tugging at the time).

Now, given your dedication to matters of fiscal prudence in "the real world", it seems safe to assume that you didn't ask for a rise that your employer could not have afforded. So in other words, you have been made to take a pay cut – because that's what your employer can do.

Which makes all your rants about trades unions look increasingly like the politics of envy – envy that other people don't simply give in and do nothing except whinge and whine on the internet. How very dare they, eh?

Or, as referenced here they simply sit on their £750bn war chest and twiddle thier thumbs, waiting for an upturn

How many more times do I have to tell you: my car gets plenty of breaks, far more than I do in fact. I'm very good to my car in that respect, I give it plenty of breaks and it takes me where I want to go. A perfect symbiosis.

As the evidence over the last decade shows, investment will be in emerging markets. UK based multinationals use funds generated here and elsewhere primarily to fund expansion in developing economies. Until such time as the UK represents a better investment opportunity than some low-cost economy with a large, young population with growing affluence then the investment in jobs, factories, etc from the major companies just won't happen here to a sufficient level to drive the UK economy forward.

I was not crying about not getting a pay rise - I was merely stating the facts, this is what happens out there in the "real world" - it isn't fair particularly on the lower paid. The approach of the union isn't right either - in printing it is proving counter-productive. Union members are not only not getting an increase the union's negotiating stance means they have no longer got a job!! I didn't ask for a pay rise, I didn't need to the company had already pre-empted that discussion!! I have a choice, no one is forcing me to stay with my current employer - we all have the ability to change our lives.

In December I was offered another job at a bigger printing company owned by PE - so that tells you who the firm is - for 15k a year more than my current salary, I chose to stay so your assumption of envy is way off the mark. Then that is typical, you have little comprehension of what is going on - preferring to fire insults and inaccuracies from up on the high toilet of diatribe.

Trade unions have a role, some do it better than other - Unite is more interested in political point scoring than it is servicing its members. Perhaps it needs to look at its own salary levels before chastising others about the inequity of it all. There is something pretty obscene about a GS in 150k plus spouting about fairness in labour rates!!
