Curious, given that the BBC has more money, more resources (including mind-boggling technological facilities), more reporters, more researchers, more experts of all descriptions and more time on its hands than ANY newspaper - and perhaps ALL put together.
That's because the BBC has been well and truly cowed by the threat to the license fee and the charter. Their political editors and journalists have hearts the size of mouses at the moment. Extremely disappointing, to put it mildly.

I wouldn't have thought it was that curious, in a society where there is an independent press financed by private proprietors and a government subsidised press financed by compulsory licence paying, it's more logical that political scandals will be uncovered by the independent press.

Plus the bcb has a Tory 'grandee' at the helm. The bcb is now part the of condem propaganda machine. The way the bcb has been manipulated by the cons is shameful. Stuff like saints and scroungers perfectly fit the demonisation of the unemployed and disabled by the current govt

Which British newspapers operate an "independent press"?

Cruddas must be thinking "Why me?"
As Peter Oborne's "The Rise of the Political Class" explains - in painstaking detail - this kind of thing is now everyday behaviour. Politics is big business with ministerial access charged at premium rates.

There is also the free way to have access to a minister - tell your local MP to have a word with them, if its an important matter then they will and are probably obliged to - it worked for me and that was while he was in opposition, in fact he was much keener to be given ammunition when he was in opposition.

C'mon then 'fess up, which bits of legislation were introduced or influenced by your MP's intervention on your behalf?
