Don't be too hard on NHS dentists, in my recent experience the only thing that differs between paying £120 for a filling and £27 for a filling is the amount of time that gets spent and the fact that the NHS dentist popped out to do an inspection on someone else while the anesthetic took affect, I can live with that, same equipment, same treatment, same excellent result - I don't need to pay for 45 minutes of private use of a dental surgery just for a filling which is effectively what I used to do - its like booking your car in for a service and then insisting that no-one else uses the garage while you are there.

Won't be long before we see the sight of the red & white barber's pole returning on the high street. We could have hairdressers bidding for NHS work - "wash, cut, blowdry and two crowns"

Who needs anti-biotics when a couple of, expertly-applied leeches will do the job?

not my experience mate. think ive only ever had one bad experience in 50 plus years and they sorted it promptly.
whether true or not, but ive heard/read private will do un necessary work just to get the ££££££s.
i ll stick with NHS and take my chances.........

We have private cover available through work (I am not in it though) and a colleague went to have some work done at a plush private practice and ended up in ER. The NHS dentist eventually sorted it out.

Paying 5 times as much is not always getting you a better service.
