Great signing. Don't see back row as a priority but world class players don't agree to sign for your club every week so you have to take them when the opportunity arises. Hopefully we will keep manu as he is a great player. The club also obviously have an overall recruitment and retention strategy next season and see ellis as a key part so that will do for me.
A number of positives for me
1) A finger in the eye for leeds and the hetheringtons 2) Ellis obviously knows gentle well and wants to play for him. Massive endorsement of his coaching abilities 3) We have obviously sold ellis on what the clubs' plan are and he's bought into it (I don't believe he would have signed unless he genuinely thought we'd be competing for trophies whilst he is here) 4) Huge statement of intent from pearson. He promised us the best and has delivered 5) Will be a catalyst for other good quality signings and will make attracting youngsters to teh club that bit easier

Lots of permutations of who may go and stay but the main thing is we are a club with ambition again and it will be interesting to see how the squad develops for next season. I still think Ogre will go and Moa. Tickle to prop and sign one other prop.
Martin to be replaced and Aspy possibly to stay? Think Briscoe will see out his contract.

Have to say that aspinwall has looked good when he's actually managed to get (and stay) on the pitch. I'd keep him if he can get clear of injuries

It seems to be only non-Hull FC supporters who claim that "we" think he will be some sort of messiah. The vast majority of FC supporters and a few of the more knowledgeable supporters of other teams see the signing for exactly what it is. A world-class player.
None of us are expecting him to turn our team into CC & GF winners on his own but as has been said, he could be the catalyst. Someone earlier mentioned Knocker but we had signed Vinnie Farrar and Charlie Stone prior to knocker and they were both instrumental in convincing him to come to us. The rest, as they say, is history.

Number two statement is a big morale raiser for me.
