Gareth has impressed me coming off the bench. He seems to add an extra bit of power & aggression just as their props are being rotated. I would be happy with him being in the starting 13, its just that I think he offers us a lot coming on after 25 minutes or so.

Evans played centre last season, ironically against Leeds, and had a damn good game if memory serves me correct.

Whatever permatation of that 19 man squad we put out on Friday night, I don't think it will be good enough to win.

Leeds to win by 8-12 points.

Squad not good enough?
Coach not good enough?
or form not good enough?

I think we are plenty good enough Leeds will whip it wide right from the kick off they wont take it up the middle our pack is far stronger.

so its how we cope with Watkins and Hall and Burrow in the backs (even if he plays at 9 he's still an extra back) which will determine the game. We should pepper Ben Jones with kick after kick he's get-at-able (just made that phrase up)

our form is the worry not the 19 I dont think weve hit any decent form at all.

I feel we can cope without the loss of Hodgeson with ball in hand but we will miss him with the boot as they have Mr dependable Sinfield. The biggest loss will be that of Michael Monaghan, the go forward he gives us long with his tackle rate after the play the ball is massive to what we have achieved over the past few years. However, it will be a big chance for others to to step up and stake a claim for a starting place.

I personally don't think we are good enough to beat any of the top 4 or 5 sides with only 1 of our 3 'key' players (Briers, M Monas, Hodgson) playing.

I'm not suggesting we have a weak squad. I believe its one of the strongest in the league, but like any of the other top sides, if you remove 2 of their best players from the key positions, then they will struggle.....Leeds withour Sinfield and McGuire??....Wigan without Tomkins and Finch??....All would find it tough, I just think this Friday we might be found a little short.

I think these are the types of games that can really make a team... If we go to Headingley without Hodgson and M Monas and get a result then it will be a great result its all about how we cope with Burrow running from dummy half and can we keep Hall and Watkins quiet ?? Our pack both front and back poop all over Leeds and if Grix is back at loose ill be happy. Ratchford should slip in at FB, Higham will get 55 minutes, Bridge will be a miss but no Monas is my biggest fear. Depending on conditions, if we go to Leeds and get a result we will all be made up....

As others have said, MOM at centre v Leeds last year and centre is his usual position in the youth teams. Ratchford is a versatile back so better to return him to FB to cover for Hodgson, and leave Riley on the wing where he is currently playing well.

Waiting for the 2021 RLWC
