Dixon has just been very unlucky. His name keeps coming out of Simmons hat for the draw to see who gets "rested" this week.

He played at Huddersfield. Before then he played at Hull KR. He played against Salford too, London and Widnes as well. So in other words, this player who has hardly figured recently has missed one match this season so far.

You really do love a moan don't you?

Someone should put the name Christopher Flannery on all the tickets this week.

After reviewing the footage of Hudds trys it is my opinion that fundamentally Soliola was the cause of our weakness down the right.

For the first try he was massively out of position which forced Lomax to go for the rush defence play, for the second try Shenton got sucked across to assist Soliola because he was conscious that Sol is fundamentally weak at dealing with players coming on the angle with a step.

I would therefore go with Flannery on the right. He is a good allround player who quietly and efficiently manages the defensive structure well.

What of Soliola. Well he has been excellent going forward so i would play him in the middle of the field as Loose Forward.

Wilkin would go on the right

Hence full team as follows

FB:Wellens
Wings:Gardner and Foster
Centres: Shenton and Wheeler
SO Gaskell
SH Lomax
Props: Perry and Laffranchi
Hooker: Lance
second rows: Flannery, Wilkin
Loose Soliola

subs: Clough, Puletua, Dixon, Meli

I would drop LMS as he didnt do much at Hudds and was for me the least effective of the big guys going forward.

Why would i start Perry, well for me he is the type of Prop that should start. He is a big rough tough prop that is ideal in the opening 20 mins. I think he has been wasted when brought off the bench as he is not an impact style prop.

I'd have to view it again, but Sia was having a bit of a penaltyathon in the first 15 minutes.

Lomax flying out the line did catch the eye, but I did notice that the line was a bit short on that side, the question is if they where short, do you hold the line and hope it slides across in time or go individual and try and stint the attack.

For me if your defending in the last 20m you can't afford to fly out as there is not enough distance between the opposition and the try line to cover any misses.

As for the Dixon comment, he played at Huddersfield so has only been missing from the minds of people who missed the game. As for Flannery I think Royce does favour him at present, off the first couple of games that seamed to be flawed as Flannery kept making huge glaring errors, but he has been more solid the last few games.

At the match I thought Shenton was to blame for the second try, but having watched the footage I agree with you. Shenton was reluctant to slide out because Soliola was flat-footed and ball watching on his inside.

For the first try, however, I think if Lomax had stayed in the line we'd have dealt with anything Hudds might have thrown at us.

I think it's another reason why Sia might end up in the front row - he'd be much less likely to be exposed in the middle where the defence is more condensed. And he'd had have more opportunities to line people up and smash them.
