For the first try he was massively out of position which forced Lomax to go for the rush defence play, for the second try Shenton got sucked across to assist Soliola because he was conscious that Sol is fundamentally weak at dealing with players coming on the angle with a step.
At the match I thought Shenton was to blame for the second try, but having watched the footage I agree with you. Shenton was reluctant to slide out because Soliola was flat-footed and ball watching on his inside.
For the first try, however, I think if Lomax had stayed in the line we'd have dealt with anything Hudds might have thrown at us.
I think it's another reason why Sia might end up in the front row - he'd be much less likely to be exposed in the middle where the defence is more condensed. And he'd had have more opportunities to line people up and smash them.
