Our debut SL season was bizarre when you look back, especially at Craven Park. We won 2 of the 1st 3 games then lost every game until the final match. Without our inspired away form, we would have been relegated a long time before we got to the KC in September.

yes back then we even beat huddersfield away

From where I was it appeared that he gave Widnes a penalty after he gestured that he'd shouted held yet Paea's momentum had never stopped and he was still going forward legs pumping hard, this happened a couple of times when the ref shouted held and the Rovers player with ball in had was still pushing hard forwards and making ground.
Widnes defenders were trying to push Paea out as much as he was trying to ground the ball. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. If he'd called held it should have been a play the ball. Thought that was the rule now anyway, if a player makes a play after the held call ie offloads the ball, you go back to a play the ball. Wasn't impressed with the ref at all, just glad it wasn't a closer game.
Strange comments from Betts, seems to think the conditions won us the game
Hope Webster's ok, Sandercock didn't seem too optimistic on the radio.

I honestly think that it was the fact that Paea thought he had scored and threw the ball away in delight that made the ref penalise him. The ref obviously thought he has thrown it away in disgust.

Could be right, gonna have to watch it back. Anyway, Paea's in my fantasy team & Roby cost me points

I thought Paea slammed the ball down in disgust once Roby had already given his decision. My initial thought was that he gave a penalty once he deemed that some of our players got too involved to help Paea over the line - effectively a rolling maul situation.
Widnes were gash Weather was MOTM not Dobson Webster should've been rested earlier Betts is an idiot No queues @ turnstiles Sound decibel level acceptable Best prematch entertainment ever - no Robinettes. Catch the bomb = £25 per catch! The kid earned his fifty sterlings today. Sandra puts to shame Tiger2000 on match updates - Tiger2000 ur finished
Oh and to any Widnes fan reading - yes, it's still raining
Sounds pretty desperate does Betts, I dont think anyone is going to be fooled that his inept coaching and mediocre at best squad are struggling bigtime and he knows it

From what I could see Paea's face seemed to be one of someone who is chuffed not disgusted IIRC that would make me think he thought he had scored instead of thinking he hadn't.
Also it wasn't until Paea slammed the ball down that the ref blew, he had been just shouting until that point, Again IIRC.

Slamming the ball down doesnt matter does it? The new rule is the attacking side get to play the ball- or am i wrong? If the call isnt heard- im confuzzled.
Eastsard - i have to agree on all your points apart from webster; hes got the lega of a chicken and always has a problem.
