I can't understand why. He's quick off the mark. He's a workaholic going forward and backward and his front-on defence is excellent. His footwork makes him a nightmare for ANY tiring forward defending around the ruck area and his physique means he's easily capable of standing up to the kind of heavy traffic you find ten yards either side of the centre spot. The kid is an obvious a hooker as you'll find.
I think many Saints fans see Roby at nine and think the position is done and dusted. But I really don't see why. It's perfectly possible to accommodate both. Indeed, I think we would be far harder to defend against with two hooking options - perhaps switching Roby to thirteen when Lomax is on.
Let Hohaia - a far more experienced player - slot into seven where he can give Gaskell or Wheeler plenty of help.
