Cristiano Ronaldo's goal scoring record is scary. Mourinho's managed to make others work to give him more time and space and it's paying off big time. How Pepe and Sergio Ramos didn't get red cards this afternoon, I'll never know.

It was a brilliant free kick, putting it where he did at that angle is stupendously hard. On the other hand, why is Falcao wasting away at Atletico? For me, he is up there with Cavani for the best pure striker in the world, he's an absolute menace in the box. Considering they paid a fortune for him - and he's continued in his goalscoring form from Porto - can you really see anybody coming in for him? Pity really, as he's one of my favourite players.

They're both helpful Rob. Suarez and his 6 goals is far better.

Lord God Jose Mourinho wrote:I've said many times that I don't even think major trophies should be decided by penalties anyway. I think having the World Cup and CL finals decided with a penalty shoot out is a travesty of both competitions and both games should have a replay.

But that wasn't even my point. It's not that you needed penalties to win the FA and League Cup, it's that you frigging needed them to win against West Ham United and Cardiff City (and Brum before that).

Winning a trophy is always to be welcomed, but there is clearly a difference between beating Manchester United, the newly crowned Champions, or a relegated Portsmouth. And beating a Championship side on pens is far worse.

I personally think Liverpool deserve the trophy far more because of the away win at Chelsea and the semi win over Citeh. That has been a tough ask and that's where the work was. But needing to take the game to pens against Cardiff is a poor way to win a trophy, and if it was another top club who won the trophy in that way you'd be one of the first people having a dig over it.

rubbish.
if your lot had of been in those finals and won the same way, you would be happy that your team had won those competitions.same as all these mancs on here deriding the result/victory/winning THAT mickey mouse trophy.

fergiescum decided at the beginning of the season he wanted the league and euro and possibly the FA cup. well he s not going to win the euro or FA cup is he, he s not going to win the league either i reckon , he might have a chance with that other "mickey mouse" europa cup, but as it stands he is going to win FOOK ALL this season. dont tell me he and any other manager wouldnt have swapped places with kenny yesterday. any one that comes on here and says differently is lying.he probably regrets his team squads in earlier rounds.
it would be great if we could get 4th too, but choice of a trophy or 4th place i would take a trophy every day (or possibly 2 trophies isnt beyond our reach this season).
if we only end up with the league cup and a europa spot then it hasnt been a disasterous season, it will certainly be a better season than most of the clubs will have this year.

Yeah, because Suarez is a pure striker, isn't he? What was that defence of Rooney over the years when Liverpool fans used to say Torres was better than him, 'different players'?

WTFever. I gave an example of how beating Manchester United in the FA Cup Final is a better way to win the trophy than winning it against a relegated Pompey. In case you didn't know, we've done both since you'd last won anything.

I'd have preferred for Chelsea to have won the Carling Cup yesterday, I'd have even preferred Cardiff to have beaten you, but the absolute worst way for you to win the cup is to need to take it to penalties against a Championship side.

Even Wimbledon when they beat you in the FA Cup managed to beat you playing football, rather than winning the lottery of a shootout.

Even if we'd won the penalty shoot out in Moscow I would still think penalties is the wrong way to decide the pinnacle of club football.

Fergie would have preferred to have won the CC yesterday, but there's no way he'd have taken Liverpool's seasons as a replacement for United's. Better to finish second in the league and qualify for the CL than win the CC and finish 6th.

It is horrible for me to say this, but if I had a choice between the FA Cup and 4th place, it would have to be a 4th place finish. The financial rewards of the CL would mean so much more than the FA Cup, especially at this particular point in our history.

I agree. But it would still have been a better victory if Liverpool had beaten Cardiff with their footballing superiority rather than winning because of the lottery of the shootout.

Falcao was signed as part of another new project but as usual it hasn't worked out as planned. He's got another four years left on his contract and if he does leave I think he'd head to Italy as I can't see him going to either the Bernabeu or Camp Nou. Personally I thought Atlético had paid over the odds for him as €41.5m is a hell of a lot of money for someone from the Portuguese league, but he score goals a plenty.

Just watched it. Burton was being a tvvat asking Carragher about supposedly being on the way out of Liverpool at that time, so Carragher's response was pretty much perfect.

Yeah, Carragher is solid. Like when he held onto the ball like a child. At least Gary Neville realised his time was up and retired instead of making himself a laughing stock.
