Shaving oil's pretty good. Whack a few drops of King of Shaves on your fizzog and get under the shower and scrape away

That shaving oil is probably the best for cartridge razors, its no good for single blade safety razors. The problem with the shaving oil however is it clogs up the blades, it is sticky and you get bits of hair stuck to the sink which are a bugger to move, and it very quickly clogs up the razor. Traditional shaving soap like Geo F Trumper or Taylors of Bond Street is a better suspension for getting the hairs to stand up and come clean off.

I have noticed that a lot of young men in their 20s and 30s seem to be unshaven these days, I think society is less bothered about a clean cut image at work than in years past - older men seem to either be clean shaven or have proper beards. A lot of young guys seem to go for this 'designer stubble' image but when the Italian models do it it seems to be groomed deliberately...clean shaven neck and at the top of the cheek bones and trimmed to a short even length. When guys just don't shave for a few days they look unkempt and scruffy. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I do reckon small details like that matter in a workplace, I find it harder to take a guy seriously that looks unshaven.

I don't usually bother shaving on a weekend, by Sunday afternoon I could put on a pair of my "gardening jeans", an old t-shirt and the most "comfortable" of my trainers (the ones that have a rip down one side but they're still "good for gardening"), and I'd easily get a bed down at St Georges Crypt for the night, they wouldn't even ask how long I'd been homeless, just one look and "He's been living under a bush on a roundabout for years..."

Is that when you sneeze in really cold weather and your snot comes out like buckshot?

That was my enduring memory of James Lowes' ill fated stint as Warrington coach. He turned up to press conferences with about 3/4 days stubble looking like he'd just got up off a park bench, and gave smug sarcy answers to every question, trying to make out the interviewer was stupid. Just portrayed the image of someone that wasn't taking the job seriously and I think it rubbed off on the team.

I stopped shaving a few years ago after a bout of food poisoning had left me with a 5-day beard and the Mrs decided she loved it even in that tatty state - and frankly I jumped at the chance to avoid the pain in the ar5e that is shaving. Always hated shaving.

I now use a beard strimmer - but you've got to invest in a decent one. Short and neat, very short under the neck and neat around the face, and blended around the edges to avoid a bold line between beard and face (something Chris Bridge could learn). A fine line between a natural look and something too defined, but after you've found that it takes no time and no effort.

No fking around with Turkish barbers or foam for me anymore.

ive told my missus to hold me down and forceably shave me if, when i get to a certain age and decide a beard is the thing for me in my older days as most old blokes these days seem to think.
IMO it makes people look ancient.
i m sure cronus doesnt fall into that category though.

It's all relative.

Relative to most of my team, yes.

Relative to most people on here, no.

I maintain a short layer of stubble due to laziness (my team would also agree with this) rather than any fashion statement.
