Ha!

I was only trolling, As Sandra pointed out, I've only been in the West since last season. Where I stood in the East stand, All you'd ever hear was f'in this and f'in that from some Women, coupled with "I f'in hate this chant" directed at Come On Cheer The Boys. We'd get to sing Red, Red Robin a couple of times before being covered in beer and being in more of a mood to go home than stay and support our team.

The West Stand is the West Stand, Half full of corporate, Away teams u20's, family and friends of players etc, They're not going to sing no matter what you do. I did like what HKR tried doing by making kids buy up the outer sections at a reduced cost so that fans after a better view could see more of the game and hopefully, club together and perhaps sing. Nothing materialised with that though - They still gave me the ticket I had because none had come available in the middle.

the atmosphere has deffo died off a little in the east stand. Still usually a good/great atmosphere most of the time, i agree that there are now often quiet periods (cant remember who posted that) which going back a few years wasn't the case. probably a combination of a lot of things, relegation looming and us pushing every ounce we could to back the team to stay up back then as opposed to comfy and no relegation anyway??? like i said, probably a lot of different reasons, the need to plan and get a ticket etc is valid too bev red

It's definitely all dum dum's fault, he goes to games in a smart shirt and his best pressed Farah's ffs!

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

FLAG EDGE TOUCH wrote:Reading the piece from Rob, I think the suggestion of 'complacency' amongst supporters is the last thing to worry about and presumably the reason the suggestion was made about the whole 'supporterdom' was to emphasise 'we're all in it together' and it's a collective responsibility in seeing the club progress...

To use language such as supporter complacency is very difficult to dismiss easily, no matter what context it is used in. Out of respect for Rob I won't hold it against him.

I have read the full text and spoken to Neil, Phil and others at Rovers in the past so I know they feel (at times) as though what they are trying to achieve at Rovers (through their hard earned money as well) is sometimes not fully appreciated. I would say many supporters don't understand the vision, which needs to be explained with much more clarity - lets face it the concept of sustainability challenges even those who are trying to achieve it! I've written a PhD on it and still challenged by it!

I know Rovers Board and CEO are taking flak over the North stand and the east stand extension from fans; they feel this is unwarranted because they are also frustrated by the funding process. The crux of the problem is the Board don't seem to be able to get beyond the short to medium term cycle the club is in. This all adds up and I think Rob has channelled his frustration in the wrong direction.

I've rec'd over twenty emails from disgruntled Rovers fans over this remark. Thats what naive statements do. . .they have a habit of snowballing opinion against.

You've received emails in response to something Rob has posted on a message board?

Cant argue with what Crossland said.

It is almost like the novelty is wearing off for some fans. Who can blame them?

The on field product isnt amazing, the facilities the same and ticket prices rise year on year.

We need to change and progress.

Merchandise prior to 2007 was limited/expensive, in 2007 we had a vast range of tat which grew in 2008. Since then it's been utter crap. Get this right and the club will sell stuff, Eon Media are pushing the boundaries and I'm sure they'll supply the club with some great image based products to sell for example; cards, calendars, mugs, keyrings, posters. All things that will sell because they'll be cheap and there's always a market. Burrda have also supplied us with some decent clothing, make's a refreshing change to the Kooga poop.

Perfectly reasonable - hope you reply to those 20+ e mails in the same manner and help melt any snowball of angst !
