The Sex Pistols covered it? When?
I've only ever heard another song with a with the same title but a completely different tune by them (OK "God Save The Queen" not "The National Anthem", but that's splitting hairs).
I too take the silent, seated protest against the National Anthem, disagreeing with it for many reasons, but I don't feel the need to get all upset and arsey about it - If you feel subservient to Queen and country then feel free to sing about them, I'll not argue with your choice.
What I will say though, is that it's the most god awful dirge of a tune. The lyrical content is secondary, like many other anthems I think people from other nations recognise the tune rather than the words. Although obviously they could confuse it with the Leichtenstein one, which is possibly another good reason to change it.
God is nothing more than an imaginary friend for grown ups.

....It wasn't a cover???....
(Think I need to be smarter with my smiley things next time, hey?)....
And so you aim towards the sky, And you'll rise high today, Fly away, Far away, Far from pain....

Do they?
My favourite verse of the Australian Anthem is the 5th one.
Shou'd foreign foe e'er sight our coast, Or dare a foot to land, We'll rouse to arms like sires of yore To guard our native strand; Brittannia then shall surely know, Beyond wide ocean's roll, Her sons in fair Australia's land Still keep a British soul. In joyful strains the let us sing "Advance Australia fair!"
They don't sing that one much these days. Written by a Scotsman of course.
