It was a monumental turn around from last week, and the difference was. Desire! We wanted it this week. Where as last week the players felt like they only had to turn up to win, and we got burnt because of it.
I don't know what Saints fans as neutrals think, or as neutral as Saints fan's can be. But the more and more I see Charnley play, the more I think he's wasted on the wing. I'd personally look to move him inside to centre this season. Particularly when you take into account Carmont will be leaving at season end.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.

Charnley reminds me of Paul Newlove in his size pace and balance. He is doing well on the wing but for me he looks like a potential world class strike centre.
If desire was enough this week, how come last week the Wigan fans where bemoaning their lack of a kicking game. I've seen neither match and can only take reports from the fans themselves that go. But last week it was we have no kicker we will not win anything without a kicker.
Has the kicking been sorted or was it never the kicking that was the problem in the first place?

Last week our forwards ran with little if any conviction. Last night they showed the hunger and determination that's required at this level. As a consequence we were kicking on the front foot last night, usually from the halfway line. Against Huddersfield it was the other way around, we struggled to get over our own forty more times than not. Sinfield has a superb kicking game, yet last night it was non existent due to Wigan dominance of field position. A strong showing in the forwards and good kicking game go hand in hand IMO.
It was just an all round lax effort last week.

I've no problem with him learning his trade on the wing. But the British game has such chronic shortage of quality centre's, it would be a shame not to try him there at the very least. When you look at some of the dross currently running around at centre in SL it's a damn near disgrace.

You could move him but does that then leave a hole on the wing, you get a better centre maybe, but if he passes it out and the winger cannot score. It nulifies your attack.
It's like the discussion at Saints where there are 4 or 5 players who could play half back. But whether they should is another matter, if you can get them all playing in differing roles, it makes the team more effective, rather than putting 2 at halfback, who are the best in other positions, therefore leaving those other positions with inferior choices.
Best half back at Wigan is arguably Tomkins, but would finch be a better FB. Putting Tomkins at Halfback takes finch out of the game and so reduces Wigan as a threat, would putting Charnley in the centre put a more inferior player on the wing so reduce them as a threat?
