Personally, I prefer this:

Finally Private Eye can refrain from referring to The Wail as "Tits by (next) Christmas"

I could go with that suggestion, providing we had the same levels of income tax, NI and the consequent improved social benefits that Sweden enjoys

There's value to that suggestion. And I'd suggest a proper legal, living wage for those cleaners and child minders.

And if he wasn't trying to spin it as a boost for women: 'oh yes, let's help female employment levels by getting more women back into domestic service roles'.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Frederick Douglas

I actually think that's sensible.

Minty - our house needs a good scrubbing. Fancy £7 per hour (net)?

I'd prefer him to stop working now, if that's the sort of idea he come up with.

I suppose a later retirement age would reduce the number of elderly people who have nothing better to do than start threads on internet message boards about what happened to them in the shower that morning.
