There was also a motion of play when Rovers knocked on then two tackles into their set Leeds knocked on, which resulted in Hall and Lovegrove literally sprinting to get into position from attack into defence and then attack again; that was three changes in the course of a minute or so. There was also an instance when Hall had to sprint almost the breadth of the pitch to get into his wing defence position. It seems to me there is an awful lot of energy and stamina being 'wasted' in the transition.
But I also feel it places too much pressure on Hally, who is making the transition from the wing to stand off. Both are specialist positions in there own right and I feel Hally needs to be allowed to concentrate on one role and not two.
I also feel it reduces Welham's impact on the game. I watched him at times looking over to the wing position to see if anyone was there! Instead of him concentrating on his own game and role he was looking over his shoulder. With this switch malarkey I reckon we have lost what was developing into a very solid and lethal partnership in Welham and Hall.
I personally would like to see Hally playing the one role and for Sandercock to bring in a specialist winger, or go with Withers at stand off, or even do what Justin daren't do - select Kristian Bell alongside Dobbo.
Kristian Bell would struggle in a championship 1 team he is not yet anywhere near ready for Super League - he is MILES off the required standard. It is debatable if he will ever be good enough we just don't know yet but he certainly isn't right now. Picking him now would ruin him and do no one any favours.
What is the point of picking someone who is not remotely capable of doing the job just because he is on our books?
Sandy feels the so called 'switch' with Hall worked quite well at Leeds and it worked excellently against Hull so let's not write it off after one game. And please can we give up on the the ludicrous calls for Bell to be selected. IT'S POTTY.
