The Ark Royal's still knocking around somewhere, mebbe we could get the Koreans to do a cut & shut job on it

Advice is what we seek when we already know the answer - but wish we didn't

Air craft carriers are no use to us as our new fighter won't land on them! Politicians / the MOD beggar belief. No carriers at present. Two on order but we'll only order two. Scrapped the Harriers and ordered 'planes that have been designed erroneously and may need to be scrapped / completely redesigned before they can be used! What's a few billion quid in these austere times though?

Devastating if used as a rudimentary club I would have thought.

Quote:A Department for Culture, Media and Sport spokesman said the palace had made it clear that the Diamond Jubilee celebrations should reflect the current economic climate.

So hire the local church hall (or maybe use one of her own church halls), some trestle tables, paper tablecloths, folding chairs, Iceland sausage rolls and vol-au-vents, loads of Panda Pop and the kid from the next street who got himself a "You Are The DJ" 50 watt amp and a couple of dozen iTunes vouchers for christmas.

Sorted, and it'll still be more than I can afford for my wifes 50th this year.

I'm warming to the idea, mebbe we can be "all sailing in it together"?

Mind you, we'd have to make sure the Duke of Ed isn't present, he's that dessicated, he'd just soak up the ocean as the boat sank.

So, here's the plan.
We send out invitations for a regal party on board the HMS Halfords.
Guest list to include all royals (regardless of how minor, but not the aforementioned regal biltong ), all heridary peers and their male offspring, the PM, the Chancellor, Michael Gove, that bloke at HMRC who let Vodafone off the hook (off the hook ... good eh?), the Murdochs, Richard Desmond and Ant and Dec.

Any more ?

Apparently, Michael Gove is unhappy. He never suggested that the taxpayer should foot the bill for a new royal yacht. His letter on the subject was just "loosely worded'.
