YORKSHIRE RADIO SIGNS NEW COMMENTARY DEAL FOR
SUPER LEAGUE XVII
Yorkshire Radio has agreed a new 12-month commentary deal with the RFL for Super League XVII.
This new deal will include a minimum of 50 live Super League games broadcast on the station during the 2012 season and will hopefully include following one of the 7 Yorkshire sides all the way to The Grand Final.
The ‘Super League Live’ show, hosted by Richard Stead with guest summarisers including Richard Mathers, Luke Robinson, Danny McGuire and Ryan McGoldrick, will have live games on a Friday night 7-10pm and a Sunday afternoon between 2-6pm featuring the region’s sides on DAB across Yorkshire with a new weekend review after the Sunday afternoon game.
Also for 2012 the station is launching a new preview show every Thursday at 6pm called ‘The Full 80 Minutes’, looking ahead to the Super League weekend with players, journalists and fans live in the studio and giving listeners the chance to call in and have their say on the big issues of the week.
Ben Fry, station director of Yorkshire Radio, said: “As a radio station, we are committed to live sport and committed to Super League and with another 50 live games this season and a new look preview show, plus daily Rugby League interviews and all the latest news, we hope to prove to fans that we are Yorkshire’s Super League Station”
Paul Kimberley, the RFL’s Commercial Director, said: “We are delighted to have completed this new deal with Yorkshire Radio and are looking forward to working with them again in 2012.”
