If you listed the attributes of what a modern fullback needs, tackling would be close to the bottom (it sounds strange as they're the last line of defense, but true).
Fullback is an attacking option, chiming into the attacking line, acting as an overlap/extra pivot, returning the ball against broken fields etc. Positioning, speed, agility would be the top 3 attributes IMO.
I play fullback at amateur level and even at that level, very few
clean breaks are made, and some games I won't have a one on one tackle to make. Most of the tackles I make are when the opposition are close to the line.
