to be fair to zinser, that is a design flaw as all the materials would have been included on the job sheet(s) so whoever did the planning for that would (if thats the flaw) be at fault

I agree, and actually this touches on my main concern here.

There are a number of people who COULD be at fault for this (I don't know anything about building but I assume that the roofer could have carried out his plans perfectly, but the architect inadvertedly created a windtunnel effect which increased the load of the roof above that which it was designed to bear, or similar)

My concern is that everybody involved will spend a long time arguing about who is at fault, which might leave us short on time or cash until it's sorted?

Perhaps someone can tell me that the main contractor has to fix it then argue about money with subbies afterwards, that would be the ideal.

It appears that the club had a contract with Langtree to design and build the stadium and they appointed Barr to build who had a sub-contract with CSP Roofing, so in any event the club (or its insurers) is unlikely to be speaking to CSP Roofing but will in all probability be speaking to Langtree and possibly Langtree's insurers.

If in the end it is concluded it is a design and not a construction fault, then as far as I can see as it was designed by Langtree's "in house" team either way it is their issue with Saints i.e. whether it was a design/specification issue or a construction issue it is still Langtree's problem.
They (Langtree) may they argue is it a contruction issue which means they can then try to offload liability to the builders, but as Saints do not appear to have a direct contract with Barr's then this is a mute point for the club IMO.

True, True. I may have mis-understood, I thought he/she was talking about the structure of the stadium itself.

I don't know who's copped the blame but repairs were under-way today.

I based my post on the article in the Cumbrian paper to which there is a link somewhere either here or Redvee. In the article the company proudly boast that they "designed and built" the roof. Apart from the weather where else does the accountability lie? I am not disputing that they are a reputable firm I'm just saying that if the finger is seemingly being pointed at the company then in the interests of reassurance and company image then I would be putting the PR men into motion and clarifying matters.
I'm just looking forward to the whole thing being repaired and safe and ready to go for the Widnes game!

it will be dont worry, there is no way they would miss out on that widnes game, its worth to much money for the club.

And the reason why I am saying give the roofer a break no one from saints is pointing the finger, its chinese whispers on sites like this that start, next thing they are at fault. Im in the construction trade myself and its not good when you get the blame for something you might not be guilty of

Went across the bridge yesterday to Tesco and it looks like someone has tried to pull up some of the manhole covers.

How long before it's wrecked I wonder?

You are taking the design portion far too literally. The subs element of design will be limited to the flashings. Materials gauge, fixings and fixing centres will be specd by the manufacturer.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Bit of info here with regards to stadium security systems

http://www.connectingindustry.com/story ... 202957&c=1

Interesting how it is capable of carrying voice alarms.

"SYSTEM 888 SYSTEM 888"

perhaps.

Or more probably something like

"Emergency systems activated. Please immediately evacuate the building by the nearest available exit."
