I thought the business model for the Dons was based on a number of local business people putting x amount into the club over a certain period of time. Is that still the case or has it changed, or was this model never adopted ?

Yes, I believe that the 'advisory board' are local businessmen who have invested financially in the Club by way of sponsorship. I'll stand corrected though if that has changed.

Sponsorship yes I understood that .

My main concern was that we will need some new money from a few businessmen to achieve the £20K.

Not sure how the Development Contract will work considering it's effectively a player we wish to sign. The figure quoted on Tuesday evening of £18k could in reality be required over a 9 month period i.e January - September 2012.

That being the case the mathematics are quite simple ... £2k per month required.

At the moment, based on pledges currently known to the Club we are currently approaching 1/4 of that total.

In truth if we could get business support rather than simply relying on the hardcore supporters we may have a chance but as it is we have a long way to go.

Perhaps SO's idea about approaching local businesses involved in the food trade is something which the Club could allocate some time to? You wouldn't need too many chipping in £50 a month to give us a more realistic chance of reaching our goal and as SO stated, surely for them it can be 'set against tax'.

I would have thought the Development contract would be over 12 months , the playing contracts ie agree over the shorter period !

The main problem is having enough pledges in to determine if the club can go ahead with the venture.

One thing is for sure we have all got to work together to ensure we donot have a shortfall later in the year.

I'ii check my lottery ticket now  & who won the Christmas Draw !

There needs be a lot of pledge form "in the post" or else the £2k per month is looking a long way off.

The club should have made it easier for fans to complete an online form at the website to get signed up. As I write the SquadBuilder isn't being given enough prominence on the Dons' site.

Some good ideas posted by S/O and Wanderer. Businesses setting donations off against tax shouldn't be interpretted as meaning that it costs businesses nothing. It means they don't have to pay tax on the amount they donate, which in effect means that for every £100 they give, it will cost them around £80 net.

Pity we missed out on a friendly against a Super League club. That would have really helped. Essential that we get a Super League club in the Challenge Cup to boost income!

The large supermarkets might be a good source of sponsorship. From a commercial point of view, being seen to do something for the local community could perhaps be a good selling point.

The bottom line here is that if we don't get Paul Cooke we would be starting the season at a very low ebb, supporters would be very deflated, and the future wouldn't look very good.

We can't afford to miss this opportunity and I would appeal to all fans to give a little if you can.

Didn't I say as much?

It's all depressingly one-way at the moment.

You didn't honestly think we didn't know how tax works did you? I mean if it cost them nothing, getting sponsorship would be the easiest game in town,

It's essentsial that we qualify to get one ... remember Siddal?

Yes and I hope that it's not all being left to Ray, because he already has his own targets to meet. Ray should be left to meet them and other people should do some work on trying to get sponsorship. Are you listening the rest of the board?

We probably will get Paul Cooke if there is enough effort by the club.
If we don't... we have some money to attract someone else.

I've given my form to Ray, he was frozen on Saturday.
Bitter it was.
And talking of bitter, I went straight into the Red Lion and had a couple ... Kelham Island Sleigh Rider ... bootiful!

Divide Doncaster into 12 areas and run a race night every month for a year, if the spade work is done correctly in all 12 areas I'm sure in total half of the amount required can be reached.
