Brighton Don: You deserve a medal mate!

You'll be accused of being an MK Dons fan next!

Thanks for your support.

We need around four times this to secure the total amount needed - something like £400 per week (£1600 per month).

There's still a very long way to go.
I'll up mine to 20 then, I'll just cut back on my model railway purchases!!
derrrr, sorry i am sure ray said we got between £300 & £400 per WEEK pledged, hope that is the case

Those two bits contradict.
Putting the THE in implies we are hitting the target.
As in we have just about got the money.
Putting we have just about got £400 per month is also very clear.
Putting together is not clear.
Putting £400 per MONTH implies we are not.
Which is it?????????
If he said we have just about got the £400 per week needed .... cushty.

To get £400 a month 20 people would need to average £20 a month. That seems a pitifully small number of people giving.
Let's say the average is £10 per month ... that is 40 people.
Still a pitifully small number of people.

That implies that not everyone at the meeting pledged, only half of them or less in fact.
Yet to a person they put their hands up wanting Paul Cooke!
WTF???!!!

Yes I know there are more pledges to come.
Mine for a start.

Perhaps half took their pledge form away.
Even if they did we will still be only half way to the target!

Spoke to Ray Green this afternoon ...

To clarify, the Club currently has pledges in the region of £420 per MONTH plus some pledges of one-off payments ... still SOME WAY to go.

Hope I am proved wrong but cannot see much input from Doncaster businessmen . So its down to the fans, other cubs have good Squadbuilder funds , but we are starting from zero .

We are not going to get there, seeemples as the MeerKat says.

One of the problems as I see it is that the money is mainly promised on a monthly basis and though that is what is needed in the long term (over 1 year), it is not what is needed in the short term.
It's up front payments that are needed so we can get Paul Cooke paid for the first few months, then we can sort out the shortfall later.

If we get him, someone (probably the Dons) are going to have to chip in with about £800 to £1000 a month until we can get some events organised to pay them back.
That or we won't get him.
We are going to have to get him on the never never.

With every newspaper article explaining the situation that we have submitted, there should have been a mandate/donation form alongside, or there should have been a flyer.

Every eating house in Doncaster should be approached to sponsor him and have a mention in the match programs.
Come up with a slogan, his name is Cooke for goodness sake.
£50 a time ... or more if they wanted.
It's nothing to most of them. They can set it against tax anyway, can't they?

Let's have some more pro-activity from the club ... there aren't enough fans to pull this one off alone.
Get on the telephones to businesses, explain the situation and ask for a £50 donation.
If you don't ask you don't get!!
The phones should be red hot.

It's not the fans problem alone anymore, we've done our bit, or we will have done by next week.
So it's down to a fresh push by the fans BUT ALSO, more importantly, a fresh push by the club.
And I just don't see why we can't organise another game. That could net a quarter of the money or more up front.
I mean this with all due respect.
You're the guys in charge, not me.
Good Luck
COYD.

PS I thought the bit about ''we have tried everybody for a game'' was frankly.......... lame.

Do we know Ray hasnt been on the phone/visited/visiting business's. I only mentioned that I donot think we (Dons) will get much response.

I agree about we need quite a chunk up front .
