Having read this thread with interest and the facts we've heard from Chunkster.
I have a nagging feeling that it might be Kyle Briggs.....half back, under 30 and has been at a SL club, or at an outside chance it could still be Rooney.
If its Cooke I think his best days are behind him now especially after a year out of the game and he would be a poor investment in my eyes. Possibly worse than McKenna and The infamous Australian Powerhouse forward McNicolas.

I agree with Jemmo and Wanderer that Paul Cooke is probably favourite.
As Weighman pointed out he is "ex-top flight" which puts a question mark against it being him, along with the fact that the player concerned has been offered a contract by a Super League club for the coming season.
Which Super League club would have offered Paul Cooke a contract given that he has been out of the game for the last 12 months?
Kyle Briggs is a possible too, as Steve Roebuck mentioned. He ticks the boxes. I think Jamie Rooney would be more of an outsider.
It seems certain that it is a half back. This rules out Keith Senior and Clinton Schifcofski.
Given all the evidence I would make Paul Cooke the favourite at 11/8 but I don't think it's odds on that it is him.

Not me, get on at 11/8 with Double Movement. I don't think you'll go far wrong.
