A la Colemanballs, a thread to highlight ridiculous exaggeration and hyperbole in winter weather reports, for general amusement.

I'll kick off with the Bradford T&A online:

Quote:On Mayo Avenue, Bankfoot, the intense blast of wintry weather created a white-over in a matter of minutes,

Translation:
"On Mayo Avenue, Bradford, a very short snowfall only left a thin smattering of snow, but then it stopped and made no difference to anybody."

A prize to the first person to post a link to a headline for "THE BIG FREEZE"

What do I win?

I hope it's some slippers, or one of those blankets with arms in.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Disqualified as a mere prediction, and thus incapable of being Weatherballs.

Knackers. Too lazy to search again, unless I definitely get slippers or the blanket thing. in purple.

If I win, don't buy me one of those blanket with arms in, I'll have a dressing gown and wear it backwards.

OK, the Wail had "the big freeze" in the body text rather than a headline, but it would be churlish to deny you.

Your prize is a free barefoot walk from Osmotherley to Whitby on any day of your choice in December.

You seriously don't know how much that would mean to me if I could really do it. :(

You'll have to buy me a backwards dressing gown afterall

I know I am going to regret asking this, but why wear a dressing gown backwards?

Cos Sandra TT mentioned winning one of those snuggle blanket/slanket things with arms and I personally think they're a waste of money when you can wear your dressing gown backwards.

But don't they have a back to them?
So you put them on over your head.
Why the fook would you put a dressing gown on back to front, when you would have to struggle to fasten it up at the back?
Put it on the correct way round and fasten it at the front and job done.
Is it me???

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.
