Hi guys need some advise please.
Currently working for a salary of 15-16k. for a 43 hour week this includes weekends, evenings bank holidays. Get a company car. Im fairly happy with this job, but starting to get pressured and stressed.
Applied for a new job where the salary is 22k.Days, no weekends or nights. Im down to final interview after passing aptitude test and telephone interview.
My dilemma is if I get the job whether to accept or not.
My partner keeps telling me the grass isn`t always greener etc.
Has anyone had a decision to make similar and what you do in my position should I get the job.

TBH I'm opposed to giving out advice.
Now with that said if you dislike your current job due to stress and pressure you need to think long and hard about what you would prefer work wise, also pay very close attention to the T+C of both positions.
I have done most things in my life delivery driver, Labouror, Fitters mate, CNC operator, Line setter, storeman, Forklift truck driver, etc, etc and the compnay you work for can make or break a job IMHO.

If you are currently feeling a bit stressed in a lower paying job, where you have to work awkward hours, the new job opportunity sounds good to me. Losing the company car might eat into the wage increase - but it is a good sized increase.

I once had to choose between two jobs. I made a pros and cons list - but I'm a bit of a geek. It worked okay though, and made me look at all the aspects that influenced the choice.

M.R, list sounds good.Im pretty sure I get a company car with new job, albeit a corsa/astra van. got 3 kids so would have to buy a car maybe. I just think the salary increse is too good to pass. Ive just worked my current wage out and im on £6.78 an hour, this is for 11 hour shifts on saturdays and Sundays. Plus I only get 3 days off in 14.
Feck it, as Im writing this im more and more persuaded to dig out my best suit and give the best interview I`ve got!
The new job is repairing ATM`s btw.

Depends what job you are presently doing and what the new role involves, most jobs can carry an element of stress and pressure. Do you consider the new job will be less stressful ?
A lot of jobs involve unsociable hours that can be turned into a positive, days off when the kids are at school less hassle shopping etc.
What are your prospects in your current role and the new role.
Forget the money that should be the bottom of your decision process, money will not lead give you job satisfaction.

I was in a similar position 18 months ago, in a Mon - Fri job with good perks and decent money. Worked for the same company for 10 years and got fed up.

Moved to a new company, better benefits but work any 5 from 7 now. In my case the positives outweighed the negatives and I haven't looked back since!


The list system usually works, use the headers 'why stay' and 'why leave'. Once its all down in black and white it soon becomes obvious which way you should go.
