The league will be hard but i don't think that we are the third worst team in CC1, but for a couple of results going the wrong way at the end of the season we could have easily finished in second place.

No you don't have to have to be famous to be good, but it helps as you have a track record which can be judged.
Yes and there is no guarantee that the big name signings will perform, but then here is no guarantee that promising young lads will either.
Regarding the thing about 'but for a couple of results going ether way we could have finished second', we knew what our shortcomings were, it was clear last year what the problems were but nothing was done mid season.
Even Tony Miller admits that we were just a little short in certain departments. These were, the forwards were lacking and the halfbacks were lacking in TOTAL by two quality players.

Now things went backwards from there as we lost class players, so where we finished last year is no guide to this year..
I do think however Miller has done a good job strengthening the forwards. But remember we lost Adam Scott, Matt Carbutt and Chris Green (all class).

In the backs we were decimated by the loss of Potts, Nevison, Spurr and Spavin.
And that has not been addressed properly so far.
So I am not sure where the optimism is coming from, since we after all could only manage 5th in what was in my opinion a weaker league when we had a stronger side than what we will now face which is a stronger league with up to press a weaker side.

If we don't have optimism there's not much point in following the team is there?
The nature of sport is that most participents do not achieve what they set out to do but it doesn't mean we have to give up before we have started.

Nobody is giving up, least of all me.
I love the Dons.
But I don't wear rose-tinted specs.
If I thought the Bookies were wrong I would say so.
Of course I hope they are wrong.

Point one ... it depends who they are.
Point two ... I'm always a bundle of joy, you know that.

And to my fellow posters, this is a thread about what a bookie thinks.
If you disagree at least say why.

It does seem a bit early to be making odds though.

Another signing that makes 21, not many left to go.
We are not going to sign anybody famous after all are we...?
Which is not the same thing as saying we haven't signed some good talent, before I get jumped on. 8)

I think we'd all feel a little more assured if we could capture an "old head" to lead us around the pitch, and add some experience to the youth.

I'm sure the club would sign someone of this calibre if they could and it'd be on Tony Miller's Christmas list!

I imagine there must be another half-back to sign yet as we're still under-strength in that department, and possibly another centre?
