If they took Wigan, Leeds, Warrington and Hull out of SL and replaced them with four clones of crusaders would that improve the competition?

SL fans have no idea how RL runs below SL. In SL, thanks to the Sky money attendances have become less important. Regular Sky coverage means sponsorship is worth more money. Championship 1 has neither of these, the main source of income is the crowd. Taking four of the best teams out of that division will reduce away support, even if only by 100 per game, that is significant over the course of a season. Couple that with the lack of a local derby and the lack of meaningful fixtures as the expansion clubs put their squad together and you have a significant drop in income for Championship 1 clubs.

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

You are correct. The odd 100 extra away fans is vital to the finances of clubs such as ours.

It isn't just the away fans though , it is how your home fans percieve the competition their club are playing in ? , local derbies and traditional rivals generally bring out the ' occaisional ' fan , new or percieved lesser quality opposition doesn't

It really is that simple , this equation applies to all sports at all levels , you only had to witness the empty seats at old trafford last night to understand it , the Challenge Cup matches between SL and Championship clubs shows it quite clearly in RL

1 new club every 2 years is probably sensible , 4 all at once is just a gimmick or knee jerk reaction IMO
