Very shocking news – awful for his family and friends. And one can only imagine the state he must have been in himself if the reports of suicide are correct.

I'm listening to Radio 5 at the moment, and there are tributes from many people who have spoken to Gary recently and said he was so happy and looking forward to the future. He was on Football Focus only yesterday lunchtime. It's so sad.

In just over a year three of my sporting heroes have gone, Gary Speed, Terry Newton and Dean Richards.
